Twitter/Facebook Management.
As part of the outreach team at the Missourian, Paola Rodriguez typically wrote around four tweets and Facebook posts each shift. She scheduled these through the Social News Desk and Hootsuite to ensure they were published on time. She would also post one tweet and a Facebook post for KBIA, the NPR affiliate, during that shift. After they were posted, Rodriguez would moderate comments throughout her shift. These are some examples of her work.
Instagram Posts.
During her time at the Missourian, Paola Rodriguez put together a package on how to better promote news content via a visual platform. With direction and supervision from now-Executive Editor Elizabeth Conner Stephen, Rodriguez was able to come up with a standardized brand for the publication’s Instagram that is now used. Rodriguez utilized Canva and Adobe Photoshop to create these posts. Below are a few examples from the package made for the Missourian.
Instagram/Facebook Stories.
In the fall of 2021, the Columbia Missourian learned to link articles on Instagram Stories. During her shift on Tuesdays, she would put together a recap of stories from the stories of the day prior or an Instagram quiz depending on the content that was published the day prior. Rodriguez used Canva to create these stories. Below are two examples of a collection that she put together.
Rodriguez also took a lead on special projects to help increase our online engagement and outreach. An example of this is a project regarding homelessness in Columbia. The photo department asked Rodriguez to help lead their audio production and social media plan. From there, she thought it would be best to utilize Instagram and Facebook stories to create audiograms. Below you will find three example audiograms from that project.
